Director of Academic Strategy & Practice

Full Story

Rowena Pelik has been appointed as Director of QAA Scotland. She is currently Director of Academic Strategy and Practice at the University and will take up her new position on 16 June 2014. She joined Edinburgh Napier in 2008. She led the development of the 2010-2015 learning, teaching and assessment strategy and currently manages the relationship with the Scottish Funding Council regarding the university’s outcome agreement as well as acting as Convernor of the university's Collaborative Partnership Committee. She is a senior academic reviewer for QAA Scotland and chairs the current national Enhancement Theme.

Rowena said: “I have enjoyed being part of Edinburgh Napier and am sad to be leaving the University as we enter a new phase of our development but at the same time truly delighted to be taking up the role of Director of QAA Scotland. In Scotland we are proud of the effectiveness of our enhancement-led approach to quality assurance. Its strengths are in the ways we work in partnership with students and their representatives and how the sector works together. I value these strengths and how we continually seek to learn – from our students, from each other and from international practice.

“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead; one of the first will be reflecting on what we do well and what we can do better in the review by the Scottish Funding Council of the Quality Enhancement Framework in Scotland.”
