Travel to other sites

To help provide more teaching spaces and ensure our students can learn in a safe environment while maintaining social distancing, some classes this year will take place at sites outwith our University campuses, such as the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) and Murrayfield Stadium.

Here you'll find a brief overview on how to get to other sites around Edinburgh, as well as the facilities available. If you're looking for directions or information regarding anywhere not covered here, or would like more advice about planning your journey, please contact environment@napier.ac.uk.

EICC

Arriving at the venue

Staff and students should show their Edinburgh Napier cards to gain entry to the EICC. Please enter by the Lennox Entrance accessed via Morrison Street. Face coverings are mandatory and should be worn on entering and at all times in the communal areas of the venue, but can be removed in the classrooms themselves when seated at two metre social distancing.

As you walk in, your presence will be detected by a thermal camera mounted at ceiling level which will analyse your temperature and provide a visual display on a display screen at ground level which will be monitored by a member of the EICC team. You can view the EICC process should your temperature be above 37.8 degrees centigrade.

You should observe signage and floor markings, adhere to social distancing and maintain high standards of hygiene at all times to protect yourselves and others.

Facilities at the EICC

The rooms we are using for teaching are:

  • The Lennox Suite, made up of rooms one, two and three, and located on Level -2
  • The Pentland, made up of the Pentland, The Fintry and The Sidlaw auditoriums which are located on Level 3
  • The Cromdale Hall which is located on Level -2
  • The Lomond Suite, made up of the Tinto, Moorfoot & Kilsyth which are located on Level 0

There are stairs and escalators to take you down to Level -2 and a lift is also available for anyone who is unable to use the stairs and escalators. Please note that only one person will be allowed to use the lift at any one time to allow for social distancing.

On some days, classes allocated to the Lennox Suite will be relocated to the Pentland Suite. Signage and guidance will be in place on these days to ensure all students know how to navigate their way to this area.

Sanitising stations will be available at the venue. Rooms will be cleaned between activities throughout the day and you'll have to leave the room while this is taking place.

There are toilet facilities on each floor, and the venue has lifts, stairs and escalators to all levels. If you are unsure where to go, visit one of the concierge desks on Level 0 for assistance.

WiFi is available at the EICC. Please sign in using the 'delegate' network - the password is 'haymarket'.

There are no catering or water facilities available onsite. However, there is a large selection of local shops and cafes in the area should you need to purchase refreshments.

Getting to the EICC

Several Lothian Buses services stop close to the EICC.

  • Service 2 stops on nearby Morrison Street (Morrison Street XL stop).

Both Haymarket train station and tram stop are approximately a 10-minute walk from the EICC, and if you're travelling by bike, there are bike racks next to the main entrance.

There is no parking at the venue itself. However, parking is available within walking distance of the EICC, with pay-and-display and pay-on-entry facilities nearby.
