Russ Berrie Sales Challenge

Maria McManus and Lisa Teichmann (both Marketing with languages students at the Business School) beat off an entry of 40 students to claim the prize of representing Edinburgh Napier University Business School at the Russ Berrie Sales Challenge at the William Paterson University in New Jersey, USA 14-17th November 2012. They were coached by Tony Douglas (Senior Lecturer in the Business School) and last year’s student Louise Bailey (now in her 4th year) who secured 4th place in one of the challenges and with her colleague Kenny Miller (who graduated this year) secured 2nd place in the Team Event. This year Maria and Lisa were just outside the top 4 but performed professionally and were great ambassadors for the University. The USA event is sponsored by ADP and many other top global firms. At the event many students secure not only interviews but many get job offers. Kenny Miller now works for Victaulic, one of the Fortune 100 Global sales companies in the USA, as a salesman. 90% of students leaving University in the USA having engaged with a sales module/programme get jobs. This percentage is considerably higher than those studying other business disciplines. The business School will be looking for the top 2 business students for next year’s RBI Sales Challenge in September.
