What is a placement?

There are numerous activities which can be described as a work placement. A key consideration for staff is whether or not such a placement ought to form a part of a programme of study or not. This website is aimed at staff wishing to help their students by providing an opportunity to experience work-based learning through a placement programme integrated into their studies.

Currently, a number of programmes at Edinburgh Napier offer placements varying from a few days or weeks to fully assessed, year-long work-based learning modules.

The type of work-based learning that you choose to offer your students will naturally depend on the overall aims and learning outcomes of their programme of study.
