How does the Edinburgh Napier Graduate Attributes model reflect the subject differences?

The 4 dimensions of ‘graduateness’ are applicable to all students regardless of discipline. However, there are subject differences in the qualities, skills & understandings that underpin these dimensions. These are categorised as

  • Intellectual curiosity & autonomy
  • Ethical, social & professional understanding
  • Intrapreneurship & entrepreneurship
  • Personal effectiveness & self efficacy

School/subject area statements (which use these categories to describe the attributes graduates achieved from their programmes of study) were prepared over summer 2011 and can be found here. These statements aim to inform curriculum development, engagement with employers, students and professional bodies. In particular these statements aim to explain our expectations of what being an Edinburgh Napier graduate from a particular subject area means.
