How will Graduate Attributes influence programme development and delivery?

From September 2011, all new programmes will refer to the relevant school/subject graduate attribute statement - which will replace the individual employability statement within the programme descriptor. No individual programme-based GA statement would be required unless a programme development team concluded that the attributes developed by the new programme were sufficiently different to the school/subject level statement, to warrant its modification.

Note that there is no plan to retrospectively define GAs in existing programme documentation.

The inherent aim of programme design is that, as well as building subject knowledge, the delivery, assessment and support provided actively promotes the development of graduate attributes. Opportunities are required within programmes for both supporting students in consciously articulating their employability, and in reflecting on their ‘graduateness’ and what this means for them and the world they live in.
