Title
Guardian University League Tables 2020 released

Summary
Here’s where Edinburgh Napier are in the rankings…

Full Story

The Guardian University League Tables 2020 were released on Friday, with Edinburgh Napier remaining in the same position as last year at 105th.

We placed 46th out of 59 modern universities in the UK, and 13th in Scotland.

There were no big changes to the position calculation methodology this year, with the table being student focused and weighted towards the National Student Survey. Our rankings for the National Student Survey are 108th in Feedback, 112th in Teaching and 115th in Course.

Other measure rankings are the value added score (19th), entry tariff (37th), employability (69th), continuation (79th), expenditure per student (91st) and student to staff ratio (96th).

In comparison to the Complete University Guide earlier in the year where we improved by 15 places, the definition for Spend for Student is not identical in the Guardian and includes the complete University spend (excluding staff pay) and not just academic services spend as the Complete University guide does. It is also divided across two academic years, so any impact of increases will be dampened.

At subject level, we have three in the top quartile – Media & Film, Law and English & Creative Writing.

An additional four subjects are ranked in the second quartile – Criminology, Hospitality Event Management & Tourism, Music and Sports Science.

Here's how the rankings are determined - and how Edinburgh Napier fared in each measurement:
