The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) team offers
pre-sessional English courses, free in-sessional support and short
courses/summer schools.
Pre-sessional Courses
Pre-sessional English courses are designed to improve
prospective students’ English language skills, and prepare them for UK academic
culture and life in Edinburgh.
We do this by offering a range of courses including short
four-, six- and eight-week pre-sessional programmes, and eight- and
twelve-month long English courses. We also run a number of in-country
pre-sessional courses at our partner universities in China.
In-sessional
English Support
In-session support is designed for international students at
Edinburgh Napier University whose first Language is not English to gain help
with Academic English and to become more familiar with the expectations of the
UK educational system.
We do this by offering a range of free, drop-in workshops across
three campuses:
- Academic writing
- Presentation skills
- Tutorial skills
- One-to-one help sessions (booking required)
Short
Courses/Summer School
We also help schools organise credit- and non-credit-bearing
short courses and summer schools tailored to suit different needs and
requirements, for example to:
- Respond to an overseas organisation’s request
- Engage in international student activities
- Enhance relationships with existing partners
- Increase student numbers enrolled on a programme
(intensive, credit-bearing courses)
