Bright
Red Sparks is our annual celebration of innovation and enterprise at Edinburgh
Napier University. The 2021 competition consists of five main categories open
to Edinburgh Napier colleagues, students and alumni who are within five years
of graduation.
There
are over £20,000 in cash prizes to be won, in-kind support from our amazing
supporters, plus business coaching to help you reach your entrepreneurial
goals.
Applications
are now open for the Business of the Year category.
Who
is it for?
If
you have an existing business or a rigorously tested business idea and have
ambitious plans for global growth, we want to hear from you. We welcome
applications across all industry sectors and enterprise types, for both product
and service-based businesses.
What
is it?
The
Bright Red Sparks Business of the Year category is an intensive accelerator
programme with a competitive twist.
Over
the course of seven weeks, you will be required to participate in three full
three-day sprints on the following dates:
- 26,
27 and 28 May
- 16,
17 and 18 June
- 7,
8 and 9 July
These
three-day sprints will equip you with knowledge, tools, and support you need to
help you drive the growth of your business. In between each sprint, you will
also be required to complete work assigned during the programme in preparation
for the next session. Upon completion of the programme, a final winner will be
announced based on a combination of programme participation, merit, and
business progress.
What
can I win?
A
total of £16,000 in cash prizes is on offer throughout the programme.
Each
participant will be awarded £1,000 upon being successful in joining the
programme and participating in all the sessions.
£2,000
will be awarded as spot prizes throughout the programme, with a final £4,000
being awarded to the overall Business of the Year winner.
Who
is eligible to enter?
This
category is open to all Edinburgh Napier students, colleagues or alumni within 5
years of graduation. You may enter as an individual or a team, as long as one
of your team members meets this criteria. You may enter if your business is
pre-revenue, as well as generating revenue.
How
do I enter?
- Read
the application
form to find out what you need to prepare
- Submit the
application form, pitch deck and video by 5pm on Monday 10 May
- If
your application is successful, you will be required to attend an online
interview between 17 and 20 May 2021
