Summary
Celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Full Story

International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked annually on 8 March. IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Learn more about IWD’s history here.

IWD is one of the most important days of the year to:

  • celebrate women’s achievements
  • educate and awareness raise about women’s equality
  • call for positive change advancing women
  • lobby for accelerated gender parity
  • fundraise for female-focused charities

Join us for some special IWD events and help us celebrate the impact of women across the world.

BRT In Discussion with Female BME Business Professionals

Wednesday 8 March, 3-4pm, Bright Red Triangle Canalside Office

Join BRT this International Women’s Day as we look to highlight, address and find solutions to some of the hardest challenges facing our female BME entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals. In this session we’ll look to identify one of the many difficulties shared by the community, and how we (allies included) can work to correct some of these imbalances. This could be about access to finance/investment, networking, finding wider markets etc.

Any output from the session will be anonymous as we appreciate the vulnerability of sharing your experiences. We hope this will be a part of ongoing discussions we are hosting in BRT regarding diversity, inclusion and belonging in business.

We’d also like to encourage attendees to drop in suggestions for topics in advance of the session, by emailing info@brightredtriangle.co.uk

Should anyone wish to share an experiences or stories they have relating to the challenges they’ve faced in business, and are okay with us sharing them on social media before and after the event, we would anonymise these and we would love to hear from you. These can be submitted as text or voice/video notes. Please send these to info@brightredtriangle.co.uk

Refreshments will be available, and there will be time after the session to network.

Register for the event here.
