One-to-one Guidance
Students can receive one-to-one guidance from an Academic Skills Adviser on any aspect of academic skills from how to structure essays and dissertations to referencing, using citations, and preparing for exams.
To get the most from one-to-one academic skills guidance we ask students to please bring the following:
an example of a writing with the assignment guidelines
any feedback they have received from Module leader, or lectureny feedback they have received from their Module leader, or lecturer
Times, days and campuses where students can receive one-to-one academic skills guidance are available on myNapier, but please check the news page for any changes.
Dissertation drop-ins
We also offer dissertation guidance drop-ins during trimester 3. No appointment necessary. Students can just
‘drop-in’ to speak to one of our Academic Skills Advisers about any issues related to the presentation, structure and writing of dissertations or final project.
It is advised that students should bring a print-out of their work or plan so far plus Dissertation handbook or brief and any feedback from their supervisor.
One-to-one bookable appointments
Students may also book a one-to-one 30 minute appointment up to 2 hours in advance. Please read the Academic Skills Adviser Terms and Conditions to see what we can and cannot cover during these sessions.
