Employer Mentoring Programme
Edinburgh Napier University has been running an Employer Mentoring Programme since 2009 targeting students who may benefit from additional support when preparing to compete for graduate employment. This may be due to their non-traditional route to higher education or the challenges of securing graduate level employment in a particular sector where contacts and industry knowledge are key.
The programmes matches 3rd and 4th year students with a trained, supportive professional employed in a relevant sector of the student’s chosen industry. We offer students the opportunity to:
Gain an insight into their chosen industry and the range of job roles available to them
Raise aspirations and encourage students to prepare for graduate level employment
Build confidence in applying for jobs and develop their interview skills
Enhance and develop students’ networking skills and opportunities
Once matched, a student has the opportunity to meet face to face with their mentor up to four times between October and Easter and, in addition, can exchange information with their mentor via our online mentoring portal throughout the academic year in order to maximise the benefits and positive outcomes.
