Any works/modifications or fixings that involves disturbance to the fabric* of any building within the Edinburgh Napier University Estate must not be carried out without prior authorisation of Property and Facilities Department and Health and Safety. The responsibility to ensure suitable safe methods of work remains the responsibility of the School/Service. Please refer to the contract administrator guidance for the management of contractors at the Edinburgh Napier University Estate.

Under no circumstances shall any contractors or any other individual be permitted to undertake any associated works on the fabric of the building at the University without full compliance with the above requirement.

This procedure will ensure that works, which are carried out, do not compromise the safety of the Estate and ensure that the Estate is a safe place for students, staff and visitors to work and study in.

* Fabric of the building definition – consisting of the building's roof, floor slabs, walls, windows, and doors.
