Information Security Policies

Edinburgh Napier's staff and students must read and adhere to the University's Information Security Policies:
University's Password Policy
This policy applies to all staff and students of the University and any other persons who are authorised to access the University’s information technology facilities. This policy ensures that passwords are used in the most secure way.
Electronic Information Security Policy
This policy applies to all staff and students of the University and any other persons who are authorised to access the University’s information technology facilities. This policy covers all uses of Information Technology.
Information Security User Policy
This policy applies to all staff and students of the University and any other persons who are authorised to access the University’s information technology facilities. This policy covers all uses of Information Technology.
Access Control Policy
This policy sets out specific responsibilities, conditions and practices which are designed to address access needs in a manner which minimises risks and maximises the protection of physical assets and sensitive information. It applies to all systems and assets owned, managed or operated by Edinburgh Napier University.
Bring Your Own Device Policy
This policy is intended to address the use in the workplace by staff and students of non-University owned electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets and other such devices to access and store University information, as well as their own. This is commonly known as ‘bring your own device’ or BYOD.
Mobile Computing policy
The purpose of this policy is to set out clearly what is required when using a University supplied or privately owned mobile computing device. Effective implementation of this policy will minimise the risk of data loss and/or inappropriate use or access to University electronic resources and information.
Monitoring and Logging Policy
This policy covers the monitoring and logging of all uses of information technology within the University.
