Wellbeing Collection

https://libguides.napier.ac.uk/wellbeing

Our Wellbeing Collection provides a collection of books, films, and apps to help you and your students.

These have been chosen by students, health professionals, and trained librarians to help with overcoming experiences, thoughts, and feelings that can be stressful or uncomfortable. Use the guide above to find information, advice, and personal stories that deal with topics such as living with anxiety and depression, to coping with exam stress, to romance and sexuality.

How does it work?

Someone from the Counselling and Mental Wellbeing team or the Disability and Inclusion team may recommend one of these books for a student to read, or you may want to choose some to support your own wellbeing.

The Wellbeing team provide support to students, and there is an Employee Assistance Programme called Workplace Options in place for staff. See more about counselling for a student or yourself.

Some of these books are available for you to read online, while others are available to borrow from your campus library. If you need help locating or requesting a book please ask a friendly member of Library staff, who are always happy to help.

Your book requests and reading history are completely confidential.

Can reading a book really help me?

There is good clinical evidence that self-help books can support people in understanding and managing common conditions and stressors. You can use these books on their own, but the Wellbeing Collection often works better with support from trained health professionals, such as a counsellor, therapist, or GP.
