People Managers play a central role in the success of the University. We have a variety of career development elements to support our managers through exploring the following themes:
Home of the Difference Makers
Who You Are: understand yourself, your values, your approach, your strengths.
Where You Are: in your career and beyond. Understand your current role and the part you play in your team and the wider University; understand you as an individual, what else is going on in your life just now and what your aspirations are across both areas .
The Difference You Want to Make: bringing together your strengths and context, identify your focus for development and form steps toward achieving your individual goals and departmental goals aligned to the University strategy.
Enabling everyone to make a difference
The development available supports colleagues to identify their individual learning objectives and tailor their development accordingly.
There is a strong focus on self-directed learning, blended with online workshops. Content in each element has been designed to reflect key organisational priorities, embed our values and support our managers.
We have created a Management Development Wheel to help you consider the skills required to be an effective People Manager and to identify areas where you are already effective and areas where you could benefit from development.
Our Management Essentials programme consists of 5 modules that can be undertaken in a sequential order or selected individually to suit your availability.
