Using Databases
To find books, ebooks, journal articles and more in Edinburgh Napier University Library, use LibrarySearch http://librarysearch.napier.ac.uk.
LibrarySearch searches across Library databases, but as a researcher you may also wish to use specific databases for specialist searching.
Each School has a Subject Librarian who can provide guidance about the best databases and resources for your subjects. See Subject Guides for an overview of resources for your subject. If you need help getting started, please email your librarian to arrange an appointment.
If you have worked or studied at another University and you are used to using specific databases, be aware that Edinburgh Napier University may have different resources, or similar resources but from another vendor. To find a specific database, start at LibrarySearch and choose Databases.
Accessing other material
If you can't find the item you require at Edinburgh Napier, check Library Hub Discover to search across the catalogues of most of the academic libraries in the UK.
This replaces COPAC and SUNCAT and allows you to search the catalogues of UK university, national and specialist libraries through a single interface.
Edinburgh Napier staff can use a number of other libraries within Edinburgh. Most researchers will be able to borrow books from other university libraries using the SCONUL Access scheme. See Using other libraries. If you can't find the book or article you want, see inter-library loan.
