CYBERUK 2019
Members of our Network Services & Security team recently attended the UK government’s flagship security conference CYBERUK 2019 run by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). As the event took place in Glasgow it was a brilliant opportunity for the team to attend such an important conference on Scottish soil.
The two-day event opened with a welcome from NCSC CEO Ciaran Martin followed by a keynote session that included a panel discussion on Global Cyber Issues with representatives of the ‘Five Eyes’ allied intelligence agencies – a first of its kind on UK soil.
With a wide and varied agenda across 7 streams and over 60 sessions to choose from, covering diverse topics such as “The Future Impact of AI” and “Cyber Security for Families”, the team members had a very busy couple of days. This included a starring role for our Information Security Manager, Graeme Hamilton, who delivered an informative lightning talk on the “Spotlight” stage entitled “Protecting our organisation with free sources of threat information”. The challenge for Graeme was keeping within the rigorously enforced 7-minute timeslot, but he nailed it with 40 seconds left on the big countdown clock.
