​Edinburgh Napier achieves Cyber Essentials Plus certification

Information Services are delighted to announce that, as a University, we have now achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification.  This builds upon our Cyber Essentials accreditation achieved in November 2018.

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government scheme which helps organisations protect themselves against the most common types of cyber-attacks and which the Scottish Government has asked all Scottish public sector organisations to achieve as part of its Public Sector Action Plan.  The Cyber Essentials Plus certificate demonstrates that Edinburgh Napier’s cyber security has been verified by independent experts.

Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus require annual recertification, so the standards that have been achieved and confirmed by the external assessor will now need to be maintained going forward, including any new additions to the scheme over time. 

This is just one of several activities being carried out to ensure that the possibility of disruption or damage caused by cyber security incidents is minimised and that we fully comply with legislation such as GDPR.   We are delighted that, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff members, we have successfully achieved this Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
