The LapSafe project: UK IT Industry Award Finalist!
Information Services (IS) are delighted to announce that the LapSafe project is a finalist in the “Best Not For Profit Sector IT Project” category of the BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards.
The award submission detailed how IS introduced free student self-service laptops loans for up to 7 days.
As a result of the project, the number of laptops available for students to borrow increased from 60 to 156, the overall service availability increased by 140% and up to May 2018, 1,659 individual borrowers had used the service with two thirds of users using the service multiple times.
Staff time taken to administer each laptop loan reduced from an estimated average of 13 minutes to 0 minutes, enabling the reinvestment of staff time into proactive support and other value-added activities.
Furthermore the new LapSafe service provided numerous spin-off benefits such as widening access, supporting disability and inclusion as well as the free provision of laptops for the University’s collaborative spaces for group work.
We are delighted that this project is a finalist – great recognition of the team’s hard work!
