Welcome to the Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement​

The Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement (DLTE) aims to inspire and support the development of learning and teaching practices across Edinburgh Napier with the intention of enhancing the student learning experience.

We are a diverse team​ with expertise in teaching, scholarship, quality assurance, and enhancement and pedagogic research.

 

We work in the University in collaboration with academic colleagues, programme teams, students and professional services.

We seek to model good practice, supportively creating space for staff to reflect on and develop their pedagogic knowledge and skill base to create curricula which maximise student engagement and learning.

We encourage critical thinking, exploratory practices and creative approaches to learning and teaching, thoughtful uses of technology, providing options to academic colleagues and students in learning, teaching and assessment.

We support the creation of cross-University networks focused on collaborative projects and joint publications and the sharing of practice, playful and experimental approaches to learning and teaching.

We are scholarly in our mission, with particular interest in:

  • the application of scholarship in the support of high-quality learning and teaching
  • the study, support and promotion of partnerships with students in learning
  • the appropriate use of technology to complement and deepen learning.
