Sick Pay
All sickness absence should be reported and recorded online via HR Connect in line with the Attendance Management Policy.
Employees can self-certify any absence that lasts up to seven days through HR Connect. Absences over seven calendar days require a doctor's fit note which should be e-mailed to humanresources@napier.ac.uk . It is important that fit notes are provided in a timely manner, to ensure that the appropriate payments are made during the absence period.
During periods of sickness, the amount of enhanced Occupational Sick Pay (OSP) that employees are eligible for relates to their length of reckonable service, as outlined below. OSP is calculated on a rolling 12 month period and is inclusive of any Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) due. SSP is payable for 28 weeks in any one period of incapacity for work, whether linked or continuous, as defined by the Social Security and Housing Benefit Act 1982.
