Our Attendance Management Policy outlines principles of good practice aimed at preventing ill health and provides a framework for managing sickness absence when it occurs, ensuring employees are fully supported and treated consistently when they are absent from work due to sickness.​

Disability Guidance



Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace​


  • Guidance for Managers - this guidance is available to help managers support a range of mental health concerns and create a positive culture around mental wellbeing.
  • Wellness Action Plan​ - a framework to assist people to manage their mental health and wellbeing at work and it can also help to open up dialogue about mental health between employees and their manager.


Support Services


  • Occupational Health Service – provides information about potential support measures to help an employee manage a health condition in the workplace or return to work after a period of sickness absence
  • Employee Assistance Programme – free, external and confidential wellbeing service that provides emotional, practical and physical support across a wide range of areas for all employees to access
  • Big White Wall - provides free and anonymous professional support from experienced clinicians who are online at all times, plus a range of courses and tools to help people self-manage their wellbeing.  University staff can sign up under ‘Join Us’ and ‘Organisation’ with their staff email address
