I am a Associate Professor in the Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA).
I teach and supervise on the Postgraduate Certificate in Learning, Teaching and Assessment Practice in Higher Education programme and the MSc in Blended and Online Education.
I have worked in a number of universities in the UK as a learning technologist, academic developer, lecturer and software developer. I am also an experienced theatre director and practitioner, and I like to explore creative approaches to academic development. I
am an editor for the journal Research in Learning Technology.
My PhD, from Glasgow Caledonian University, was on the role of theory in teaching with technology in higher education. My research interests include the relationship between digital teaching and theory, critical digital pedagogy and open education practices.
