Bright Red Triangle

student work

One of our junior consultants Olga Tyukova recently completed various works for a colleague; here is what she had to say when she was assigned the task of producing promotional material for the Human Resource Development Research and Practice Across Europe Conference which Edinburgh Napier is hosting next year.

“David McGuire was looking for an innovative design that grabs the attention of busy academics and entices them to visit the website for more information. The design was asked to promote the attractiveness of the conference location (Edinburgh and Craiglockhart Campus) as many academics may be tempted to visit from the US, continental Europe or further afield.

Following these guidelines I created an A5 leaflet - the main design element was a picture of the Craiglockhart Campus and some pictures of Edinburgh which I took myself earlier. The Conference theme is "Reflecting upon the past, shaping the future" and I wanted to reflect it in my image choice, choosing both old and modern buildings. Luckily enough the very same idea is embedded in Craiglockhart Campus architecture, combining old and new buildings in one ensemble.

Later I've used the leaflet design as a basis for developing the web-page , which will be filled with more information by the end of July. For the invitation which would be sent to overseas delegates, David asked for something very elegant and classy, so I've turned my mind to official, even luxury, wedding invitations. David wanted to embed the tartan in it, and we've used official Napier University tartan to evoke the feel of "Scottishness".

In this design I've used elegant calligraphy font, University crest and an element of National dress which is called "garter flashes". I've also digitalised David's and Thomas's signatures to add some personal input to the feel of design.”

As you can see from the image, Olga did a fantastic job and hopefully as a result of which we will be able to attract more delegates to the conference next year. If you would like more information on Bright Red Triangle and how we can help you then please get in touch with Sam McFarlane.
