International Project Week

Four Languages and Tourism/Festival & Events Management students from the School of Marketing, Tourism & Languages who represented the University, participated in the ACEEPT International Project Week (European Association of University Colleges in Tourism) held in November at Centria University in Pietersaari (Finland). The team has been kindly supported financially by the Business School.

As part of the International Project, the students, Sophie Bonk, Claire Crerand, Valerio Porretto and Michael Pia, guided by Benedicte Cebrian, conducted a series of pre-tasks set by the host institution during the months preceding the Project week to present their institution and an event of their country, and to investigate the region of Ostrobothnia.

At the beginning of the Project week, the students joined 70 other fellow students from 9 European countries who were then split in 9 mixed-nationality teams to work on the project “Marketing destinations through events”. Each team had the challenging task to organize a specific event that would help promote the region of Ostrobothnia in Finland. During the 5-day period, students were assisted by lecturers, guest speakers and professionals in the field of Tourism to give them insight knowledge on the region they were promoting. On the final day, a panel of judges made of lecturers and professionals, gave prizes to the best three winning teams for their professionalism, innovative approach and marketability.

By participating in this International Project week, the students have shared a unique and rewarding experience of multiculturalism, language, and knowledge application. “It has been a fantastic experience meeting students from around Europe while benefitting from the expertise of lecturers and professionals”.
